Award-winning salon Victor Noblesse, with roots dating back to 1959, is one of the salons that has helped shape and develop the hair salon platform of the future. They’re digitalising to avoid technical hassle and give guests better service. They’re also doing it to modernise things for their hairdressers and open up new revenue streams.
Most salons around the world have a reception desk or till where every customer queues up to pay and book their next visit. That’s how it’s been for decades. – “We exist to help hairdressers. We wanted to reduce their stress, admin and hassle. That’s why we started Digmi,” says Tobias Lindberg, who founded Digmi.
150 salons across the Nordics now use Digmi. According to customer surveys, the strong uptake is down to hairdressers wanting to give their customers a better experience, while also streamlining and modernising things for their staff and boosting revenue. Every salon is also keen to cut costs.
New revenue and higher profitability
– “By doing away with the traditional reception desk, salons can, for example, make room for an extra chair to rent out or more products to sell,” says the company’s CEO, Joel Lagerkvist.
One of the salons that was quick to see the benefits of digitalisation was Victor Noblesse in Gothenburg, led by star hairdresser Dani Abunar, who owns and runs the salon together with his wife Marlene.
Dani has an impressive CV, having been crowned world, European and Nordic champion in his trade. Together, Dani and Marlene have won awards including Hairdresser of the Year, twice.
– “We chose Digmi because we wanted our hairdressers to be able to handle both booking and payment straight from the chair. This frees up time at our reception and, at the same time, increases how often our existing customers rebook,” says Marlene.
– “At the same time, we’re offering customers a more modern, more comprehensive service,” says Dani, concluding: “With Digmi, we avoid all the tech hassle, since they take care of everything.”
In Digmi’s first year, hairdressers’ customers were offered 7,000 digital magazines. Now Digmi 2.0 is launching, meaning every hairdresser has everything they need on one digital tablet.
– “By using Digmi, every hairdresser can save money compared with what they pay today, while giving their customers an even better experience,” says Conny Mohlin, the company’s Head of Technology.
